Young people's policy
This policy is for learners who are under 18 years old.
We respect the privacy of young people who use this site, and this policy explains how we do that. We may update the policy from time to time so please read it each time you visit the site.
You must ask your parent(s) or guardian(s) for permission before using this site if –
- you don’t understand something we say here or
- you think they might not like you using this website for any reason.
Please also check with your parent(s) or guardian(s) before asking us to send you more information by email.
How we collect information from you…
- When your school sets you up to use vision2learn for schools, they will put your details into the database behind our site. You can change this through your personal profile page.
- When you send material or coursework on the vision2learn for schools site, this may contain information about you.
- We use "cookies" – little computer files that the website puts on your computer – but just to make it easier for you to use the site, and not in a way that identifies you.
- We need your consent to use cookies, unless there's no other way to make the site work for you. There are a
number of ways to give us your consent:
- You can read this policy and then use the site.
- You can use appropriate browser settings.
- You can use third party tools to control Flash and Google Analytic cookies
- Most of the cookies we use are the ones we have to use to make the site work for you – and they all disappear when you close your browser.
- We also use Google analytics cookies which stay on your computer after you close your browser – they collect anonymous data. You can stop being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites by going to Google's site at: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Flash cookies are used with audio and video files in some of our courses. You can see and delete those by going to Adobe's site at: www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
- We also collect "traffic data" – information like which website you visited before ours which is collected automatically by the site – but again, not in a way that identifies you.
How we keep your information confidential and secure…
- We will keep any information you give us secure by using appropriate methods. Please help us to do this: keep your username and password confidential and don’t share them with anyone else.
Who we give your information to…
- We won’t give personal information about you to anyone, except if –
- we have to for legal reasons, or
- your account is misused, we may tell the relevant authorities like the police, or
- we transfer vision2learn for schools to another company or business, so you can keep on using it.
When we will use your email address…
- For administrative reasons – for example, to confirm you are set up as a user on vision2learn for schools, to let you know if the system is going to be unavailable or your user account is coming to an end.
These are your rights…
- You have a right to see a copy of the personal information we hold about you – it costs £10 for the copy.
- You also have a right to correct any errors in that personal information.
Overseas transfers of information…
